The UEFA Europa League is back, and after months of simmering, the competition is now finally coming to the boil as we’ve reached the quarter-final stage. Four exciting games take place on Thursday evening, including one in France, where Lyon and Manchester United will go at it.

After battering Romanian side FCSB in the previous round, the hosts will fancy themselves to build an advantage ahead of their trip to Old Trafford, while at the very least, the visitors will be looking to stay in the tie ahead of the second leg, which is when they burst into life during the last round. Read on for our Lyon vs Man United player betting tips.

This game takes place on 10/04/2025 at Parc Olympique Lyonnais, also known as Groupama Stadium. Kick off will be at 20:00 GMT.

Before these two teams battle it out in the city of Lyon on Thursday night, two player bets look worth playing, one for each team.

Corentin Tolisso Over 0.5 Shots on Target

Since returning to Lyon after a five-year spell at Bayern Munich, Corentin Tolisso has pretty much picked up where he left off, delivering big performances for the club that he first started representing at first-team level back in 2013.

This season, the man who has been capped 28 times by France has scored eight goals and produced five assists in all competitions, scoring twice in the Europa League. From a shooting point of view, he’s been very active.

Interestingly, in all competitions, no Lyon player has attempted more shots than the 30-year-old, while in the UEL, he ranks as Lyon’s third-best player for shots. It’s eye-catching to me that Tolisso averages no less than 1.13 shots on target in this competition too.

Having registered three shots on target in his last three appearances (in all competitions), as well as six in his last eight in the Europa League, he looks a decent bet to make Man United’s Andre Onana work on Thursday.

Bruno Fernandes to Receive a Card

While the visitors have struggled to get into the groove this season, it must be said that Bruno Fernandes has once again shown that he’s head and shoulders above anyone else currently playing for the Red Devils.

The captain has enjoyed another productive campaign, producing 31 goals and assists in all competitions, scoring 16 and assisting 15. He averages 0.70 goals and assists per 90 minutes, so he’s certainly pulled his weight, plus the weight of a few others.

However, on a slightly more negative note, the Portuguese midfielder has struggled to stay out of trouble, picking up nine yellow cards and three red cards. On the continent, he’s certainly kept referees busy, picking up three yellow and one red, averaging 0.45 cards per 90 minutes.

During the previous round, Fernandes picked up a yellow in away leg, while he comes into this game having made several fouls in recent matches, fouling eight times in his last three appearances. Given the available odds of 16/5, that’ll do for me, absolutely.
