There haven’t been many positives for the Saints this season, there can be no denying that, though the performances of forward Kamal-Deen Sulemana, who first started getting regular minutes around the turn of the year, have caught the eye.

The lively and direct 23-year-old has scored only one Premier League goal, notching at home to Bournemouth, but he also scored in the FA Cup against Swansea, while he arrives at this junction having turned in a solid effort against Spurs, shooting no less than three times, working the opposition keeper once.

Showing a clear appetite for shooting, Sulemana hasn’t exactly struggled to hit the target in recent times, forcing not only the Spurs keeper into action, but also the keepers of Brighton, Bournemouth and Man United, producing a total of six shots on target in his last eight starts.

Kamal-Deen Sulemana to Score

At much bigger odds, I can’t really resist betting on Sulemana to score what would be his second Premier League goal of the campaign. Sure, he’s been far from prolific, but there really was plenty to like about that performance in North London, where the forward suggested that his next goal may not be far away.

Facing Aston Villa under normal circumstances would be tough for this Southampton team, and I’m not suggesting that Unai Emery’s men will go to St. Mary’s and give up, but with such a huge continental game coming up, it would be foolish to assume that they’ll be at full strength on Saturday evening, so the hosts could get more opportunities than would do otherwise. At 6/1, I’m betting that Kamal-Deen Sulemana can take one of those chances.
