On Thursday, having drawn 1-1 in the first leg, Frankfurt and Tottenham will battle it out for a place in the final four of the Europa League.

Judgement day may just have arrived for Spurs’ Ange Postecoglou, who in the opinion of many needs to win this game to stay in the job. Can his team get it done in Germany? Or does more disappointment await Tottenham fans? Read on for our Frankfurt vs Tottenham player betting tips.

Frankfurt vs Tottenham player betting tips

This game takes place on 17/04/2025 at Deutsche Bank Park. Kick off will be at 20:00 GMT.

As these two battle it out for a place in the semis, looking at the early odds, two player bets, both card related, stand out from a value point of view.

Lucas Bergvall to Be Carded

We’ll start with Lucas Bergvall, who has had something of a breakthrough campaign for Spurs, delivering some energetic and highly promising performances. During a season full of negatives, the potential shown by the teenage midfielder is a clear positive.

However, thanks to his all-action and high-intensity nature, combined with some youthful exuberance, Bergvall often got on the wrong side of referees this term, so much so that he looks like a cracking card bet at odds of 3/1.

In terms of fouls per 90 minutes, in all competitions, the 19-year-old is right up there with the most prolific players for Spurs, averaging 1.72. In the Europa League, no Tottenham player has made more fouls than Bergvall, who has picked up two yellows in this competition so far.

Overall this season, Bergvall has been booked eight times, averaging a quite chunky 0.33 cards per 90 minutes. In other words, he’s been booked 33% of the time. In other words, odds of 3/1 (= 25% implied probability) look very user-friendly.

Tuta to Be Carded

Also a good bet to go in the book on Thursday night, at least all the time odds of 14/5 are on offer, is Frankfurt’s Tuta, who per 90, has made more fouls than any other Frankfurt player in the Bundesliga this season.

We’re also talking about a player who seems to have a habit of getting his name taken, being pulled up for poor behaviour on several occasions in the league this season, collecting eight cards, averaging 0.37 cards per 90 minutes.

In the Europa League, like Bergvall for Spurs, Tuta’s is Frankfurt’s most prolific fouler. Somehow, the Brazilian has evaded a booking on the continent this season, though unless he turns in a rather untypically polite 90 minutes, his luck could run out here.

It’s also worth mentioning that Tuta, in one of the deep-lying midfielder roles, will have the task of picking up James Maddison, who of the players remaining in the Europa League rates as the second-best in terms of drawing fouls.

All things considered, with this being a high-pressure game for the hosts, Tuta looks a little generously priced to pick up a card.

To be clear, to take value, you should be taking odds that are bigger than the fair odds. If bigger odds are not available, then there’s no value, which means no bet.
